After we extract honey from our colonies of bees, we need to make sure they have adequate food to see them through the cold, winter months.
In Autumn we feed them sugar syrup which they store and use over winter.
As its been very mild recently some colonies are a little lighter than they need to be so we feed them fondant so make sure they dont starve.
This year we bought a product called Honey Bee Pro. Its an enzyme based fondant that the bees can use for emergency feed if they run out of stores.
They use all of this feed way before we place supers back on for honey storage so there is zero risk of contamination.
